This semester, I was granted the opportunity to understand proper legal procedures and draft a multitude of different contracts including non-disclosures, subcontractor agreements, and teaming agreements just to name a few.
This semester I had the opportunity to intern at a communications company called Reingold, Inc located in Alexandria, Virginia. Throughout this experience, I learned many different valuable skills and gained key experiences that will assist me in the future whether that be my undergraduate or graduate career. Some of these skills include a strong attention to detail, critical thinking abilities, and a valiant work ethic that will prove beneficial to me at any level of education. The most important aspect of this internship for me personally was understanding the exact behavioral traits and ethical standards that create an efficient work environment for all employees. This semester, I was granted the opportunity to understand proper legal procedures and draft a multitude of different contracts including non-disclosures, subcontractor agreements, and teaming agreements just to name a few. While I am an accounting major, I have had an avid interest in the law stemming back to my childhood because my mother has been a lawyer since graduating from college. My grandmother was also a lawyer, so this subject was naturally passed down to me throughout the duration of my childhood. Another important facet of my internship opportunity was the opportunity to train and learn directly under a certified accountant. I also had the opportunity to work very closely with the finance department on a weekly basis and complete tasks relating to my major including drafting vendor invoices, running company payroll, and analyzing financial documents.
Hey Colin,
I was drawn to your poster because I am a economics major and felt a personal connection to this. I learned from this poster, that business contracts have a very profound connection towards law from independent contractor agreements to consulting agreement in the NDA. My question is whether you learned more business aspects or law aspects from this internship.
Hi Colin! Before declaring Economics as my major, I strongly considered Business and your project stood out to me because of its strong business connection. I did not realize how diverse law was and the extensive nature of business law. Did you enjoy drafting the contracts during your internships or did you wish you could have been assigned a different task instead?
Hi Colin!
Your project really stood out to me because I am really interested in internships and job opportunities that apply law outside of traditional governmental jobs. Something I learned about from your project is how law plays a large role in businesses, especially because of their use of contracts. Would you recommend pursuing an internship similar to yours, even without a background in business?
Hi Colin! Your work as a contracting intern interests me. As a fellow business major, I learned more about the intersection of business law and ethics in contracting and internships. Having lived in northern Virginia, the area is also familiar to me. Business law is also a very important part of accounting. How has your understanding of accounting and law within the public realm prepared you for further education as an accounting major?
Hey Colin! I wanted to read your poster because I am also in the business school and am interested in internships that have a connection to some elements of that too. I was really interested to learn about the work you did and how you learned about the legal field as well as a company's operations. Do you think the knowledge you learned related to law has helped you understand the business world better and vise versa?
