Hi Shreya!
This is quite interesting to read, being that I am a student living in the College Park area. I learned that gentrification doesn't only happen in major cities and disadvantaged communities, but also near major college campuses. That was quite shocking to me, but I'm glad to learn about this issue. Do you think that students are the main contributor to campus gentrification or the residential community around the college? If students are the issue what can we do to reduce gentrification?

Shreya,
I think the appeal of your research project comes from how applicable it is to most people on or near campus. I like the use of the ACS data as it shows a clear relationship. One question I do have that you may have found the answer to through research is what, if anything, can students do to help?

Hey Shreya! I was drawn to this poster as a student currently living in College Park, but also because I have been interested in gentrification for several years due to its occurrence near my hometown. I can definitely see the relationship between construction projects and increasing rent. I wonder why there isn't much data on this, when it seems to be a problem across many college towns?

Hi, Shreya!
I was drawn to this poster because, obviously, I am a student at College Park- and learning about the place that is going to be my home for the next few years is pretty crucial. Furthermore, it's important to find out where there are avenues for change in your local environment- and fighting gentrification is a pretty necessary pursuit!

Hi Shreya,
What drew me to your poster was the topic. I ha personally see the impacts of gentrification in Baltimore City so it was interesting to see that this is possibly happening in College Park. I learned that the building of new buildings is actually impacting the affordability of the area. Do you think there’s anything students could do to help ?
