My name is Allison Bell and I am a sophomore Justice and Legal Thought student. I, like all of us, have been home because of COVID-19. During this time, I have made over 90 masks with the organization Route 1 Mask Match! This organization works with individuals making masks by matching and distributing them to our vulnerable neighbors in the Greater Route 1 Corridor in order to help flatten the curve of COVID-19. I heard about the program through Professor Erica Smith and knew I could get involved to help. Before working with this organization I knew little about sewing and had not even used a sewing machine. But thanks to my sisters’ instructions and help and over 50 hours of work, I would now consider myself a knowledgeable seamstress! I am so grateful for my health and the opportunity to help keep others healthy during this challenging time!

This presentation caught my interest because it dealt with donating face masks and assisting those in need during the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. The presentation taught me that even if I am stuck at home I can do my part to help others to hopefully slow the virus and allow us to go back to our normal lives. Are you going to continue making masks?
this protect caught my eye because of the photo and how topical it is. I have also been making face masks and was wondering what this service project was about. I learned about another origination helping out during this crisis. My question is if you are going to continue making the masks and what other efforts you have helped out with?
Hi Allison!
I love this service project especially because my family is also contributing to flattening the curve by making masks, surgical caps, and ear savers. Your work is so important, not only because of the fact that you're helping your community, but also because it helps to highlight the severity of the pandemic and the cruciality of social distancing and taking proper medical precaution. Your willingness to learn a new skill during such a stressful time is inspiring. I'm sure you are practicing social distancing, so I wonder what you would say to those that are practicing lenient social distancing or don't even believe in at all?
This project stood out to me because obviously this pandemic has impacted all of outlives greatly. I think it is truly amazing how you were able to make a change like during such a trying time. And you were able to help save the lives of so many in our school's county which is currently the leading county in the state of Maryland. Truly incredible! It was so inspiring to read your experience in this program and how you were able to become a seamstress out of it as well. A question I have for you is how has the pandemic been in Route 1 after you guys made the masks? Were you able to gain some new insight on…
This project caught my attention because it is incredibly relevant to what is going on currently with COVID 19. I learned that there was an organization that specifically for distributing masks to neighbors in need. Do you plan on continuing to make more masks?
